When engaging in trading spot stock indices through contracts for difference (CFDs), it’s crucial to consider the impact of dividend payments from underlying listed companies or components of stock indices on your trading account. These dividend payments can affect the value of your positions held in the trading account after the market closes, based on whether your position is long or short. A net of tax dividend adjustment will be incurred, either as a payment or a charge. The dividend adjustment is represented in the form of swap.

The composition of each Standard Lot may vary across different trading products, so it’s advisable to refer to the contract specifications for specific details.

For Long Position:
Dividend Payment = Component Dividend (weighted, per stock index contract) × Position Size in Standard Lot × Contract Size per Standard Lot Currency Multiplier

For Short Position:
Dividend Charge = Component Dividend (weighted, per stock index contract) × Position Size in Standard Lot × Contract Size per Standard Lot Currency Multiplier
